Slither.io is a massively multiplayer browser game developed by Steve Howse. Players control an avatar resembling a worm, which takes in multicolored pellets, both from other players and ones that naturally spawn on the map within the game, to grow in proportions. The goal of the game is to grow a long worm within the server. Slither.io is similar in concept to the popular 2015 web game Agar.io and is also reminiscent of the classic arcade game Snake.

The objective in the game Slither.io is always to control and move a snake avatar around a dark space, eat dots, defeat and consume other players to cultivate the avatar to the biggest and longest within the instance from the game. In the event the player’s snake’s head collides into an integral part of another snake, the player loses the game and should start over.
This game grew in popularity following its promotion among several prominent YouTube users such as PewDiePie, and topped the App Store shortly after its release. Slither.io’s browser version was ranked by Alexa as among the 1,000 popular sites by July 2016, as the iOS version ranked first inside the most downloaded apps on the App Store. A mobile version in the game for Android was released on March 27, 2016. The reception in the game was positive, with reviewers praising its appearance and customization but criticizing it for its low replay value and the high price users must pay to remove advertisements.
he objective of the game is always to control a worm around a broad area and eat pellets, defeating and consuming other players to gain mass to develop the biggest and longest inside the game. Once the player starts the game and it is spawned in to the virtual world, their avatar cannot stop advancing. When the player’s worm’s head collides into a part of another worm, the ball player will die. The defeated avatar’s body becomes bright, shining pellets for other players to consume. Just as much pellets because it takes for the equivalent amount of mass since the worm had exactly before its death will likely be transmuted. These pellets that remain from “death” of the avatar will match the colour in the avatar itself, and therefore are both brighter and larger than “normal” pellets, which spawn naturally throughout the world. Normal pellets tend not to give as much mass as pellets dropped using their company worms. “Chase” pellets will appear individually in various places of the world, and once eaten, give a greater quantity of mass than pellets dropped by other worms. Chase pellets avoid worms and flee when they draw near. Chase pellets can be found by boosting.
By pressing and holding the space bar or left/right mouse button (on mobile, double-tapping the touchscreen), the ball player can use their boost, which causes the avatar to accelerate. If the button (or, on mobile, the finger on the touchscreen) is released, the worm will stop using its boost. When a player uses their boost, the worm loses some mass, creating the worm’s size to shrink slightly, using the mass which is lost from the boost appearing as a type of small pellets in which the boost was applied. The riflhm feature is helpful to outmaneuver and defeat opponents. A typical strategy that is used by players to defeat opponents is of the player’s avatar coiling around the opponent’s in a loop, up until the opponent, held in the loop, crashes in to the player.
There is a border that confines avatars inside the circular game board. When a worm hits the border, the player automatically dies without turning in to the aforementioned pellets. Currently it is actually removed, in 2016, the ball player with the biggest worm at the conclusion of the morning managed to share a “victory message” using the world. On each server, leaderboards are displayed at the top right, showing the top ten players with worms which have the most mass of all the other worms in the entire server.
